    Venue: The Phya Lae Monument, Muang County, Chaiyaphum Province

    From 12-20 January 2007, you are invited to join an annual sacred offering to the spirit of “Phya Lae”* and a red cross fair in Chaiyaphum, a province in the northeast of Thailand (342 km from Bangkok).

    On 12 January, after the spiritual ceremony, there are elephant shows and other demonstrations from various schools. Besides, authorities booths and OTOP products are set up at the fair.

    On 18 January, there will be interesting activities such as drawing competition, silk contest, Thai silk fashion show, and Thida Phya Lae beauty contest.

    2007 King Narai Regign Fair , Lop Buri , Thailand


    King Narai Reign Fair “A night at King Narai Palace”

    King Narai Reign Fair is held from 16 to 20 February 2007 to commemorate the reign of King Narai the Great (1657-1688) of Ayutthaya. The King is well known for promoting international diplomatic relations, especially with the European countries. Thai people also recognize his reign as a revitalization of Thai literature.

    Narai Ratchaniwet Palace is located in the centre of Lop Buri town between Ratchadamnoen Road and Pratu Chai Road not far from the railway station. Now the whole compound has become the site of the Lop Buri National Museum. In this ceremony, the palace will be used as the site of the fair. There will be parades, cultural demonstrations, folk games of Thai children in the olden days, exhibitions from government officers, and OTOP booths selling local products. The highlights of the fair are Narai’s royal style dinner as well as light and sound presentations of the reign’s fascinating history.

    Bo Sang near Chiang Mai is renowned for its exquisitely hand-painted parasols made from mulberry paper and silk. The dainty parasols are decorated with beautiful floral motifs painted in dazzling colours. The designs are very distinctive and are instantly recognizable.

    During the festival, brightly decorated craft shops and stores line both sides of the 'high street' transforming Ban Bo Sang into a picturesque village decorated in the Lanna Thai style. Colourful umbrellas and traditional lanterns liven up the handicraft fair.

    In addition, there are contests, exhibitions, cultural performances, local entertainment, and a variety of shows by day and night. There is a grand procession of parasols and local products, a variety of handicrafts for sale, northern-style "Khan Toke" meals, and the Miss Bo Sang pageant.

    Bo Sang parasols are popular decorative and gift items sought after by visitors from all over the world. Its international appeal is confirmed by the fact that the Bo Sang parasol won the "Best Souvenir" prize at the International Tourism Seminar held in Los Angeles, USA.

    Chiang Mai Flower Festival 2007


    Get back to 30 years ago, Chiang Mai was facing tremendous changes in the name of modernization. Most of Chiang Mai were concerned that this would definitely damage identity of Chiang Mai. Since The northern Capital known as “The Rose of the North”, Chiang Mai people all tried restoring Chiang Mai centuries old charming by planting flower, orchids, shrubs and blossoming trees throughout the city. Then in 1977, Chiang Mai provincial administration office cooperation with Chiang Mai city Municipality and Tourism Authority of Thailand including other public and private organization joined hands to organize the 1st Chiang Mai Flower Festival Week, from 6th - 12th February. Later in 1978 this festival was changed to the Chiang Mai Flower Festival, and the period reduced to 3 days. The Festival has been held since on the first Friday, Saturday and Sunday of February annually. Tourism Authority of Thailand has been recorded this event into festival calendar of event of Thailand as well as has promoted Chiang Mai Flower Festival to overseas. The number of tourists attending this festival was increasingly year by year.

    On Saturday morning the procession of glorious decorated floats are opened by parading from Nawarat Bridge over the Ping River to Buak Haad public Park at the south west corner of city moats, where the inauguration of the festival took place. The highlight of this festival is the beauty pageant contests, for Ms Flower Bloom and Ms International Flower Bloom. (The first is for Thai and the second is for foreigner.) There are also the floral exhibitions as well as the exhibitions from private organization, local products fair, flower’s photo and painting contest and musical show in the garden. Most of Major activities are held at Buakhaat Public Park, except the traditional market “Kad Mua” is held in front of the Governor’s residence at the Nawarat Bridge.

    Remarked: This year 2007, the Flower Festival will be held occasionally from 1-4 February, 2007 which continue to the Royal Flora 2006.
